I participated in Ministry

Education.
I attended a mini-conference
with Carol Dweck and Guy Claxton. They
discussed their research and developments in Growth vs Fixed Mindset and
Building Learning Power. These are
research based strategies that support learners to develop positive attitudes
and strategies towards learning.

I completed my Masters of Education, earning First
Class Honours
Courses completed:
Leadership of Learning; Curriculum Leadership;
Leadership for School and Centre Improvement; Educational Leadership and the
Law in New Zealand
During 2014 I was on study leave through Teach NZ
allowing me to study full time and complete these papers. I chose to
complete my Masters through papers as I felt this would give me a wider range
of knowledge to draw on when I returned to my role as principal.
I attended the ICMA Leadership
conference in Charlotte North Carolina and an exchange to Dubuque Iowa - Collaborative Art piece
This
conference focused on community leadership within local government structures
and included a large focus on collaboration between sectors. As
local government is responsible for education policy in the USA
there were many relevant workshops and presentations. In Dubuque I was
able to attend some schools and meet with local education leaders to discuss
developments in their area to work more collaboratively with education
providers as well as local council to support educational achievement for all
students in their community.
